Junior High Honors Choir

The following students have been selected by the American Choral Directors Association to participate in the the 2006 Junior High Summers Honors Choir program at Penn State:  Erika VanGorden, Danae Binder, Derek Brookens, and RayPaul Gascon. Congratulations!


Man of La Mancha

The musical was held on May 12th and 13th in the Port Allegany High School Auditorium at 8:00 pm. By all accounts it was a resounding success.  Congratulations to the Drama Club for a fine performance.  For information, click here.

On November 7, 1837, Elijah Parish Lovejoy was killed by a proslavery mob while defending the site of his anti-slavery newspaper The Saint Louis Observer. His death deeply affected many individuals who opposed slavery and greatly strengthened the cause of abolition.

Soccer
The soccer banquet will be held on Friday October 26.
 
Cross Country
The boys cross country team won their inaugural meet on their new course against Coudersport!  The score was Port 16, Coudy 39.  T.J. Rotello took first place.  The girls lost a close match by a score of Port 29, Coudy 26.

Both the boys and the girls varsity teams were defeated by Otto Eldred at their first meet on Sept. 5.  However, the news is not all bad.  T.J. Rotello placed third and Deserie Tanner also placed third.  In addition to this, Kenny Kysor won the Junior High meet!

Soccer

The boys soccer team defeated Bolivar/Richburg on Sep. 7 by a score of 4-3.  Scoring goals for the Gators were Jon Burkart, Kirby Elliot, and Tyler Payne who scored the last 2 goals in the final four minutes to win the game.  Helping with assists were Shane Roush, Neal Bonser, Kirby Elliot, and Jon Burkart.


Announcements

  • The Port Allegany School District welcomes community members who wish to walk in the high school hallways for exercise.  Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. - 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. have been set aside for walking by community members.  If community members desire to walk on the track, they are asked to use the gates by the high school gymnasium.

  • The district has implemented a Senior Activity Pass for any resident of the school district who is 65 years of age or older.  Eligible residents should register in the Superintendent's Office to receive their activity pass.  The pass is good for all extra-curricular activities.

  • In the event of inclement weather or any other event that causes a delay or closing of school, we ask that you listen to the local radio stations where notification will be made.  District personnel will contact the following radio stations  to announce delays or closings:  WHKS - 94.9, WPIG -  95.7,  WBRR - 100.1, WAS - 90.1, WQRM -  106.3, WILMA - 89.1, and WFRM - 96.7.  District personnel asks you cooperation in not calling the schools as available staff will be involved in other responsibilities related to the delay or closing.

  • "Homework Help on PIN" channel 28, is a weekly call-in program for students and parents.  This interactive program makes state certified math and science teachers available for students and parents who need help with homework.  The program is televised on Sundays from 5 -7 PM throughout the school year.

  • 17 and 18-year old male students must register with the Selective Service.  This may now be done with Mr. Berrettini in the Health Office. More info...
